Who We Are

CL FIRES is a 501(c)(3) tax exempt nonprofit charitable corporation as of September 25, 2011 with an effective date of April 28, 2011.  All memberships and donations are tax deductable from that date.  Please consider joining or making a donation as a tax write off for this year.  Membership levels are:  CL FIRES Embers $ 10 – 24.99, CL FIRES Sparks $ 25 - 49.99 and CL FIRES Flames $ 50 and up. 

CL FIRES was created to support the Crystal Lakes Volunteer Fire Department (CLVFD) through fund raising activities and grant applications.  The major fund raising activities include the Memorial weekend Rummage Sale, the 4^th of July food and CLVFD logo sales, the Labor Day weekend CLVFD logo sales, and silent auction.  .  These activities have provided extra money for many years to purchase items for department personnel and equipment over and above what the Crystal Lakes Fire Protection District (CLFPD) mill levy provides.  These events would not be possible without volunteers from the CLVFD and Crystal Lakes members.

Because the CLFPD is a Special District governed by state of Colorado Revised Statutes, the CLFPD Board requested a tax exempt nonprofit corporation be formed to assume fund raising and grant application responsibilities.  The organizers of CL FIRES have the ability to raise funds, apply for grants, and award grants to the CLVFD and community groups for the purpose of supporting community fire prevention by providing information resources; fire fighting service resources, and personal and property fire prevention and safety education opportunities.  CL FIRES will raise funds through memberships, donations, fund raising activities and grant applications. 

CL FIRES has had significant organizing expenses for professional fees during its first year.  Membership dues, donations, and some fund raising events have helped defray these expenses. 

The Crystal Lakes Volunteer Fire Department is critical to keep property owners safe and to provide emergency services within Crystal Lakes.  Please support the CL FIRES effort. 

Board of Directors

The initial Board members, Jody Sandquist, George Deaton, Sherry Alexander and Jeanette Williams are excited about introducing CL FIRES to Crystal Lakes and the surrounding communities.  As we begin our efforts to support the Crystal Lakes Fire Protection District, the Crystal Lakes Volunteer Fire Department, the Crystal Lakes Community Fund Association, the Greenbelt Management Committee, and many other community groups and organization, we invite and encourage everyone to become a member and to volunteer at many different levels.
