About Us

Who We Are

Crystal Lakes Fire Information Resource Education Safety Corp. (CL FIRES) is a 501(c)(3) tax exempt nonprofit charitable corporation that was created to support the Crystal Lakes Volunteer Fire Department (CLVFD) through fundraising activities and grant opportunities.

Fundraising activities provide extra money to purchase items for department personnel and equipment over and above what the Crystal Lakes Fire Protection District (CLFPD) mill levy provides. A majority of this fundraising is done through annual activities which include the 4th of July Duck Race, Independence Day activities, Labor Day Weekend Rummage Sale, Annual Chili Cook-off, as well as CLVFD merchandise sales.

CL FIRES also awards grants to CLFVD as well as other local community groups for the purpose of supporting community emergency services and encouraging education for fire prevention and person safety.

Board Members

The initial Board members: Jody Sandquist, George Deaton, Sherry Alexander and Jeanette Williams were excited to introduce CL FIRES to Crystal Lakes and the surrounding communities in 2011. Through their efforts CL FIRES built support for the Crystal Lakes Fire Protection District, the Crystal Lakes Volunteer Fire Department, the Crystal Lakes Community Fund Association, and many other community groups and organizations. The current Board invites and encourages everyone to become a member and to volunteer at many different levels.
